I watched all the YAOIs so you don’t have to! Initially we saw a lot of crap interspersed with some good. The next pile of anime are squarely in the ‘good’ category but not for the reason you might think. Get ready to experience more explicit titles, and one that has become notorious amongst fujoshi – for reasons related to curious produce usage.

Level – C

This was another title that was available in clips and raws only for the longest time. Dodgily acquired and played on the now defunct realplayer back in the day, it has fujoshi vintage. Getting it was so difficult the first time around with a 56k connection, I remember burning it onto a CD to be sure I would still have it even if my hard drive died.

The censorship that was endemic in early versions is cleaned up and all the action is clearly visible, if marred a bit by invisi-dick. And those delightful, pink hued eighties living rooms are much clearer.

Classy.

While the animation stutters and the music is nigh unbearable, this anime actually has a coherent and decent story, characters and sex scenes. There’s really a lot going for it, despite the tired YAOI tropes and slightly annoying uke.

There is only one powerful detriment to this series and it is thus: the absolutely horrible music. For this reason, I had to mute parts of it, it was -that- bad.

Lesson XX

On the opposite end of the porn spectrum, this is an OVA that is probably as softcore as it gets while still technically being a shounen-ai anime. This was another difficult to find title and I didn’t really know anything about it when I went looking, just that is was YAOI and there was some kind of drawn out romance.

It turned out to be a really touching series, full of gentleness, summer nostalgia and pleasing internal struggles. The characters and story are as cliche as YAOI gets but there’s something about the summer setting in a small town that brings out nostalgia for long lost loves of youth.

Aside from the occasional dumb expression by the protagonist. In blunt terms – the art leaves a lot to be desired. The animation is cheap and rushed, but the pacing helps by being decent.

I left satisfied in the end, despite a distinct lack of porn. It also has a special place in my heart since I watched it as a young fujoshi while struggling with relationships. The innocence of the characters and their tentativeness about their sexuality is almost refreshing, compared to more mature YAOI titles.

Boku No Sexual Harassment

Yep, the real reason why you’re all here. The Corn Show. It was inevitable, someone had to review this thing beyond calling out the weird produce abuse. This is actually one of the best YAOI anime available, shockingly enough, with hot explicit action and mild SNM that’s also beautifully drawn and animated.

I was shit shocked when I saw this title and realised the extremely pixellated version I watched years ago had LIED to me. This is a beautifully done porno! The characters look great, the action looks great and especially in the fresh looking uncensored version. Still, invisi-penis and lame music but everything looked so good I just didn’t care!

The relationship is intense between a boss and his subordinate. There’s (as the title describes) some serious sexual harassment going on here but what brings it above a YAOI rape show is that you’re never sure if the uke really wants it, or is just kidding himself to satisfy his lust for getting ahead.

There are some hints towards a possible romance but what this show is really about is sticking things in a squealing uke’s butt – and boy DOES IT EVER DELIVER.

For some reason, the corn didn’t make me wince, but the whiskey bottle did. In any event, go watch this if you’ve never seen it before for fujoshi cred since it’s really quite good and one of the big names in translated YAOI history. Not surprising, since the venerable Kazuma Kodaka penned the tale.

The produce section will never be the same again.
