I’ve sung many praises about the amazing series Kaiji before, the most famous of the Fukumoto manga featuring death defying gambling events, societal commentary and deep, psychological study of the male protagonists.
Fukumoto manga are definitely written as ‘manly manga’ with nary a female in sight. My crackpot theory as to why Fukumoto has a veritable LEGION of female fans ready to worship his protagonists, directly relates to that fact. Women aren’t objectified the way they are in most anime and manga simply because they aren’t there. Aside from a few background characters we see rarely, there aren’t any sickening harem set ups or overwhelming kawaii culture. And the men are sensitive protagonists; weeping, compassionate and at times very, very stupid – but most importantly, endearing.
And easy to envision naked.
If, you know, you like incredibly strange character designs. Luckily, that is my specialty. What is also my specialty is genderswitch, cross dressing and delicious boobs.
Yes, that’s right, when hentai artists go to attack popular series and add some smut to an otherwise staid series sometimes they can run into a problem. There just aren’t enough boobs to go around.

In a series like Kaiji that is extremely popular and features a deliciously rape-able male protagonist, you just have to start making compromises. Boob shaped ones. This is why Kaiji as a woman makes so much sense – and is so delicious~
